Are you likely to benefit from chemotherapy? Not all women do. The Oncotype DX test can help you and your doctor in evaluating your treatment options. Answering a few questions may help determine if you are a potential candidate for the Oncotype DX test.

  1. Have you been diagnosed with breast cancer recently and are you making treatment decisions regarding adjuvant chemotherapy with your doctor?
  2. Have you been diagnosed with Stage I or II invasive breast cancer?
  3. Is your breast cancer estrogen receptor positive (ER+)?
  4. Do you have lymph node involvement?

The Oncotype DX test provides clinical experience information for women who have been recently diagnosed with Stage I or II, node-negative, and estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancer. A recent study has shown that the test may also be appropriate for post-menopausal women who have been recently diagnosed with node-positive, hormone receptor-positive (HR+) breast cancer. Your breast cancer does not fit these features. If you have questions about this test, please ask your doctor.

The Oncotype DX test provides clinical experience information for women with estrogen receptor-positive (ER+), lymph node-negative, Stage I or II breast cancer. As you have ER+, lymph-node negative, Stage I/II breast cancer, you may be a candidate for the Oncotype DX test. You may wish to discuss with your doctor whether Oncotype DX is right for you.
